Successful planting session today

Three hours hard work in the sun this morning saw some serious progress at the Garden with rows of tomatoes, cucumbers and celery amongst other vegetables set out in rows.

We also started sowing giant pumpkin seeds for our annual youth pumpkin competition – the two little girls in pink are proud custodians of a seed each. Will they win?

We will be having another planting session on Wednesday afternoon from 4pm if you would like to join us … please come, the beneficiaries of meals-on-wheels and local food banks will be grateful for your efforts.

Seed planting tomorrow – please help

Pumpkin planting tomorrow

(and other good things – please come and help for an hour)

We would would welcome your help for an hour or so tomorrow morning at the Garden any time from 9am onwards … this is an important day in our calendar when we will be planting:

and seeds for the Youth Giant Pumpkin Competition

First vegetables planted

Our thanks to the more than a dozen gardeners who came to the Garden at Fritz this morning and worked hard to get the ground ready for this years plantings. In fact we successfully sowed the first rows of beans today …

Mountains of rocks were cleared, barrowloads of dandelions dug out and a lot of fun had by all. Come and join us next Saturday for our next working party that will include clearing the site for the youth giant pumpkin competition, the sowing of seeds part of which will be the week after.

Ground Breaking Work

Our gardening season for 2016 started last Saturday 7 May with a determined effort to till the soil and start laying it out for rows of vegetables destined for local food banks and the meals-on-wheels service.
