What spacing should we use to plant our vegetables?

I was told, once, by a boastful Texan than his brother had a cabbage farm in Texas and he planted four cabbages per acre. Not only were his cabbages big but apparently so was the farm itself. He explained that if his brother got his car started in the morning and drove in a straight line until sunset he still wouldn’t have reached the far side of his farm. I told him that we used to have a car like that too!

🙂

Successful planting session today

Three hours hard work in the sun this morning saw some serious progress at the Garden with rows of tomatoes, cucumbers and celery amongst other vegetables set out in rows.

We also started sowing giant pumpkin seeds for our annual youth pumpkin competition – the two little girls in pink are proud custodians of a seed each. Will they win?

We will be having another planting session on Wednesday afternoon from 4pm if you would like to join us … please come, the beneficiaries of meals-on-wheels and local food banks will be grateful for your efforts.
